Terms and Conditions

Schools - Plastic Planet Competition 

  1. The School competition is open to all schools internationally with children of 5-11 years in attendance. Schools will be invited to register to take part in the Plastic Planet Challenge to teach children about plastic recycling and effect change at home.
     
  2. Pupils will be given a homework sheet and asked to: -
    • Find out if it is possible to recycle plastic at home
    • Design a plastic recycling poster or anti-littering poster
    • Bring their poster into school
       
  3. Schools must collate entries and submit their two chosen winning entries using the Submit Entries button on wastebuster.global/plasticplanetkids and must make sure they have completed the submission form nominating their two best entries (one for each of the age categories of 5-7 years and 8-11 years).
     
  4. Schools can optionally upload a photograph of their children’s posters on display, of their children holding up their posters, or any other plastic recycling activity they are undertaking, for a chance to have their photo appear in the Plastic Planet Challenge Gallery and earn an official Plastic Planet Challenge ‘Ocean Protectors’ certificate of achievement via email.
     
  5. Schools must keep the original entries as they will be required to produce them before being publicly nominated as the winner.
     
  6. The closing date for entries is at midnight on Thursday 5th July.
     
  7. Wastebuster reserves the right to change or cancel this competition at any stage and without prior notice, if it deems necessary, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.

The Winners

  1. A design from each age category (5-7 and 8-11 years) will be selected as the winners of the competition. The wording: ‘Litter things matter’ (and the translated equivalent in the most appropriate language) shall be integrated into the winning design in the predominant language of the winning school/s. The promoter reserves the right to make small changes to the winning designs to meet space restrictions on the bottle.
     
  2. The winning school/s will be awarded an official Plastic Planet Challenge certificate of achievement.
     
  3. The winning designs (as amended by the promoter as described above) will be made into a customised design suitable for a refillable plastic water bottle. The winning child in each of the winning school/s will receive one of the bottles and a further 50 bottles will be given to each winning school for eco-team prizes.The customised bottles are permitted by the promoter to be made available for sale (subject to any local legal restrictions) by the winning school, to raise funds for further campaign activity and plastics waste education. The promoter also has the right to make additional customised bottles and items using the design (and variations of it, such as the design with the ‘Litter Things Matter’ title translated into other languages) available for sale to raise funds for further campaign activity and plastics waste education.

  4. The winning school/s will be notified (using the details provided with the entry) within one month of the closing date of the competition and prizes will be delivered on or before 15th September 2018.
     
  5. No alternative prize will be available.
     
  6. Unclaimed prizes: if for any reason a winning school cannot be contacted for one month after the closing date or is unable to collect or take part in the prize, a different winner will be selected.
     
  7. The promoters reserve the right to offer and substitute prizes.

Promotions

  1. The promoters reserve the right to publish details of the name of the schools registered with the Plastic Planet Challenge and the winners. This could include on the Wastebuster website/s and WRAP website/s, and in relation to the promoters’ campaigns and similar campaigns.
     
  2. The joint promoters of this competition are Wastebuster CIC Ltd of The Bothy, Albury Park, Albury, Guildford, Surrey. GU5 9BH and The Waste and Resources Action Programme (‘WRAP’) of Second Floor, Blenheim Court, 19 George Street, Banbury, Oxon, OX16 5BH.


The Plastic Planet Challenge - Certificate Missions

  1. The Plastic Planet Challenge Award challenges missions can be completed by all children up to the age of 11 years at the date of entry. Entries must be submitted by a parent, guardian or a responsible adult on behalf of an entrant.
     
  2. Pupils can enter in any of the following ways: -
    • By uploading a photo of a plastic themed poster to encourage plastic recycling or deter littering, displayed at home or in the local community
    • By uploading a photo of taking part in a litter tidy up or any other plastic recycling activity
    • By uploading a video of the entrant/s or their friends or family dancing to the Busta and Pong recycling song
       
  3. Every young person who enters will receive a PDF badge certificate via email sent to their parent/ guardian email address as an attachment OR as a download link.
     
  4. Up to 20 entrants who complete all award challenges will be selected at random to win either a Busta mascot or Wastebuster Top Trumps. Winners will be asked to (optionally) send in a photograph of them with their prize. Winners that submit photos will be consenting for these photographs to be promoted on the Wastebuster website/s.
     
  5. Photos/ videos must be uploaded via the Badge Mission Completion Form on wastebuster.global/plasticplanetkids by completing the required information. Entrants must also agree to these Terms and Conditions to qualify for entry. Images/ videos must be no more than 10MB in size.
     
  6. Identifying information provided by the parent/guardian/responsible adult for each entry will be used and be accessible by the Wastebuster team only.
     
  7. Wastebuster reserves the right to edit or adapt any of the photos/ videos submitted to this challenge.
     
  8. The promoters reserve the right to provide substitute prizes.
     
  9. Wastebuster reserves the right to change or cancel this competition/ challenge at any stage and without prior notice, if it deems necessary, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.

Pledge Giveaway

  • Individuals that pledge by submitting their email address to the pledge form on www.Wastebuster.global will be entered in a random selection ballot to identify 5 winners of Busta mascot toys.
     
  • The promoters reserve the right to provide substitute prizes.

Count Me In 

Photo entries to the Count Me In gallery must be submitted by a parent, guardian or a responsible adult for any entrant under the age of 12.

  • Selected entrant photos will be displayed in the Count Me In gallery (https://wastebuster.global/count-me-in). Wastebuster reserves the right to select which photos appear in the Count Me In gallery, this choice will be made at the discretion of Wastebuster. For photos to be considered for selection, the action the individual is undertaking to reduce plastic pollution must be legible.  
     
  • Individuals that submit photos on the Count Me In entry submission form (https://wastebuster.global/count-me-in) will be consenting for these photographs to be used in this gallery and promoted on Wastebuster and their partners website/s in relation to the Count Me In page and the Plastic Planet Challenge (https://wastebuster.global/).
     
  • Photos must be uploaded via the submission form on the Count Me In page: https://wastebuster.global/count-me-in by completing the required information. Entrants must also agree to these Terms and Conditions to qualify for entry. Images must be no more than 10MB in size.
     
  • Identifying information provided by the individual, or parent/guardian/responsible adult for each child’s entry will be used and be accessible by the Wastebuster team only.
