Parley Create Manchester United Third Kit Out of Recycled Ocean Plastic
Parley’s innovative recycling techniques and commitment to promoting a circular economy will be inspiring those all over world with their latest design: Manchester United’s third kit.
Not just any football kit. The strip will be manufactured out of upcyled plastic waste collected from shorelines, beaches and coastal communities.
The commitment to plastic pollution within football doesn’t stop there with the whole premier league committing to being single use plastic free by 2020!
As an organisation Parley are inspired by their ‘Avoid, Intercept and Redesign’ (AIR) philosophy. Whilst committed to reducing, replacing, retrieving and recycling they see potential to redesign and use this retrieved ocean plastic to create useful and stylish products.
Parley Ocean Plastic designs are reaching even further than one of the biggest clubs in world football, also designing footwear, organising an MLS collaboration and manufacturing reusable water bottles. They’ve also been part of a variety of different collaborative campaigns including ‘Bali’s Biggest Beach Clean Up’, a beach clean-up with Adidas in Hawaii and promoting the #Strawssuck campaign.
